New mandatory registration under the VAT Act. in Bulgaria From April 1, 2025

New threshold April 2025 for mandatory registration under the VAT Act. From April 1, 2025, the obligation to register under the VAT Act is reduced from BGN 166,000 to BGN 100,000. The obligation to register under the VAT Act arises for persons established in the country who have reached a taxable turnover of BGN 100,000 or more for a period not longer than the last 12 consecutive months before that date. The new threshold is applicable when determining the taxable turnover both for the purposes of mandatory registration under the law and in cases of deregistration.
Registered persons with a taxable turnover for a period not longer than the last 12 consecutive months below BGN 100,000 as of April 1, 2025, who wish to remain registered, are not obliged to submit an application for deregistration.
The threshold for registration under the VAT Act was BGN 166,000 from 01-01-2025 for only three months.
